Behold! The Power of Twitter!

I’m sure everyone’s figured out how powerful Twitter can be for marketing, but I’d like to share this example.

Here’s a conversation I had via Twitter with a local photographer, Merek Davis. He posted a tweet about gourmet cupcakes, which I replied to.

When the hell did gourmet cupcakes become trendy?

@Merekdavis My girlfriend is crazy about gourmet cupcakes.
Can’t complain. I’m like a cupcake taste-tester.

Now, obviously this little Twitter conversation had nothing to do with myself, or even Merek Davis. Which is exactly how you should be using Twitter. I used to think that Twitter was a lame way of announcing to the world what you were doing, however, that’s only 1 side of it. In addition to promoting yourself, you should be engaging in meaningful communication with other Twitter users.

I met the owner of Let Them Eat Cake at a seminar for social media, which is how I knew about the place. I haven’t met Merek Davis, but we do follow eachother on Twitter. Now, the reason I like this example is because I have never met this man, but I’ve forwarded the name of a great cake and cupcake boutique to him. It’s word of mouth in the 21st century. It’s awesome. Hopefully Merek heads over to Let Them Eat Cake, enjoys it, and tells a few people.

Merek Davis is a very talented photographer creative genius in Gilbert, Arizona. He’s been published nationally, and can do just about anything one would imagine.
